Service Agreement :

By retaining Roy Brown Investigations, LLC, (RBI), the client understands and agrees to the following:

RBI is not an attorney and cannot, and will not, express legal opinions.  Any comment or opinion expressed is solely that of the investigator.  RBI does not give legal advice, tax advice, or medical opinions.  RBI urges the client to seek the services of an attorney, accountant, or physician, as appropriate.

Fees are based on an hourly-rate plus reasonable expenses. 

Fee caps may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

A retainer is required before commencement of investigation.  The retainer is deposited into an escrow account.  Time and expenses are billed against the retainer.

Reports are completed on all cases based upon the needs of the client.  Report writing is billed at the quoted hourly-rate.  This may include copying digital photo or video files onto DVD for the client's use.

Any court or deposition time is payable in advance, on a flat daily-rate basis.

While RBI will attempt to follow and obtain all available evidence, and will do so in a lawful manner, RBI cannot guarantee a particular outcome in any case or investigation.  RBI can only guarantee that we will work diligently.  The client is compensating RBI for time, efforts, and reasonable expenses.  Usually, successful investigations result from a combination of experience, skill, preparation, long hard work, and sometimes a little luck.

RBI cannot guarantee the accuracy of information obtained from other sources.  The client may request RBI to verify the accuracy of such information where possible.

RBI will utilize BlackBerry, regular email, and of course the phone, to stay in reasonable contact with the client throughout the investigation.

RBI will likely terminate an investigation if the client unreasonably interferes with the investigation.  RBI reserves the right to terminate an investigation for any reason.  RBI will return any unused portion of the retainer to the client upon termination of an investigation for any reason.

The client may use results of investigation by RBI for lawful, legitimate, and socially acceptable purposes only.  The client agrees to indemnify, hold harmless, and to protect and defend RBI in a court of law, if information, or investigative results, are misused in any way.

The client may provide information to RBI.  The client acknowledges the client has permission, or the legal right, to provide such information to RBI.  The client will provide accurate information to RBI.

The client takes full responsibility for any unlawful act(s) by the client.

The client has not, and will not, violate the reasonable expectation of privacy of anyone.

The client has disclosed the existence of all arrest warrants, court orders, charges, legal complaints, and present and past stalking charges, against the client.
