The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) is the world's premier provider of anti-fraud training and education.  The ACFE has nearly 40,000 members.  The Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) focuses on four bodies of knowledge:

§         Criminology

CFEs have the ability to understand how fraud is committed and how it can be identified.  CFEs examine books and records to detect and trace fraudulent transactions.  CFEs also interview witnesses and suspects; report findings, and testify at trial; and understand the underlying factors that motivate individuals to commit fraud. 

ASIS International and the PCI

The Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) designation is evidence that an individual is Board Certified in Investigations.  The PCI is administered by ASIS International (formerly the American Society for Industrial Security), the preeminent international organization for security professionals, with more than 35,000 members worldwide.
